When our family moved into Bath some 35 years ago, our solicitor warned us that the Lower Bristol Road was subject to a decision to move the curb line northwards to widen the footpath and at the same time widen the road itself to take an extra lane of traffic. This is why post-war buildings follow an indented building line.
