Summary


In his latest Chronicle letter, Charles Plummer is 'appalled' by my views on abortion and accuses me of emotive language and thoughtless rhetoric. He mentions the use of the word Holocaust - a word now applied to the killing by the Nazis in the camps of five million Jews and one million other people, including Catholic priests and others who opposed them.

The word comes from the Old Testament and refers to the offering to God of slaughtered bull calves, heifers, lambs and goats burnt by fire on altars, for the remission of the guilt attaching to the people of Israel, for their sins, see Psalm 50 (51).
