BATH APPROACH Colin Gamlin won his first league match of the season at the expense of George Thurston, who has now lost all three of his in the seniors' Division 1. Gamlin paved the way for success by completing the front nine in two over par to take a decisive four- hole lead.

Brian Woodford continued his improved form with a comfortable win over Bernard Roots. The pair were evenly matched over the front nine and Roots took an early lead soon after the turn. However, his form deserted him and Woodford took full advantage, winning four holes without reply.
