Summary
May I refer to Alwyn Dow's recent brief but lovely letter, concerning the Holy Father's visit to Britain? In it she pertinently highlighted his message for the visit, namely "heart speaking to heart".
My own journey back towards the Roman Catholic church arose similarly from the church's "heart speaking to my heart" some years ago. Although baptised into the Roman church and raised within a most wonderful and incredibly loving family, the extent of my faith was confined to attending Sunday Mass and the sacrament of confession. I did not understand it but followed my parents. A public school education, followed by agricultural college, gave me a thorough grounding in the ways of the world which in turn marked the beginning of my demise. This time of my life was best characterised by drinking to excess, an obsession and lust for the opposite gender, married or unmarried, which in turn ultimately led to my cohabiting with several girlfriends and fornication.See the full content of this document
