Summary
A recently broadcast programme, about a man, Garth Gunn, said to have ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis), who has recovered by taking exercise, in this case long walks is typical of many in a genre that needs serious reappraisal because they may be giving a completely wrong impression of ME and causing treatment to be recommended, which is actually harmful to genuine sufferers.
It is most likely that the subjects of these stories did not have ME at all but some other illness having chronic fatigue or depression and that they had already recovered sufficiently from their illness - perhaps with time and rest, possibly in association with drug treatment - to be able to take exercise, NOT that the exercise (which they would not be able to contemplate when at their worst) had brought about their cure.See the full content of this document
