A celebrated photographer who had a narrow escape when his car collided with a parked lorry at 50mph has thanked an off-duty fireman who stopped at the scene to give him vital help.

Sir George Pollock, 81, had been on his way home from Cirencester when he lost control of his vehicle on the A46 at Cold Ashton and collided with the lorry.
