As we bid farewell to 2010 and tentatively welcome 2011, the new year gives us a fresh opportunity to look at our lives.

We look back - where have we been in the year that is past? Has it been a good journey or one we would sooner forget? We also look forward - where are we going? The year ahead is a blank canvas, an image that can be both exciting and daunting. As someone once said: "The optimist waits up to welcome the new year in, while the pessimist stays up to make sure the previous year has gone."
