Summary


The re-formation of the Spice Girls, coming some ten years after they were at their peak, sparked all sorts of memories of the mid- 1990s. Radio stations started to replay some of their big hit songs and Wannabe triggered recollections of a Conservative politician who 'wanted to be' MP for our area around that time.

Mark Prisk, an outsider from the Home Counties, was shipped in, taking a local address to try to fabricate some 'local' credentials as a Tory candidate. But Wansdyke residents saw through this and hugely rejected him in favour of truly local Labour man Dan Norris, who has served them well ever since.
