It was kind of Gabriel Batt, Conservative councillor for Bathavon, to respond to my letter and to clarify his party's attitude to the present financial crisis (Bath Chronicle April 22).
The Nobel prize-winning economist, Joseph Stiglitz, has recently associated the seeds of the crisis with "Thatcher and Reagan [who] ushered in a new era of deregulation, growing inequality and weakening social protection" which led to the "flawed incentives, inadequate regulation and a lack of scruples .... that played so large a role in the crisis".See the full content of this document
