Web Voice... ; New Bus Travel Scheme Planned for Bath Area

Summary

A NEW bus travel scheme could soon be in place in the Bath area, enabling passengers to use day tickets and season tickets on local services irrespective of bus operator.

It's a pity that First operates the majority of bus services in Bath so "a wider choice of journey options" won't really be available for most people. The current day and season tickets that First sells are also more expensive than in other parts of the country. And a First day ticket in Bristol costs the same as a day ticket in Bath and covers a much bigger area! Sam, Bath Why not have a one price/one journey ticket as in parts of the US and other countries? Where my sister lives in Hawaii you pay the same for four minutes or four hours (a circle isle tour and excellent value!), and if you have to change buses you get a transfer at no extra cost (provided the journey is continuous). The buses are full, frequent and reliable and cover the whole island of Oahu, and there are cycle racks on the front. The big difference is that they are not run by a greedy private company but by the City and County of Honolulu! Thomas, Bath Have just got back from Edinburgh.
