Why We Were Right to Support Holburne

Summary


I refer to Cllr David Speirs' Chronicle letter regarding Conservatives not supporting his proposal to give free internet access of one hour to concessionary users in council libraries but at the same meeting giving support to a pounds200,000 capital grant to support the Holburne Museum extension.

Conservatives abstained on the internet pilot proposal because it is a matter which has to go for consideration by the Cabinet and we will consider the proposal both as a pilot and in terms of ability to fund on an ongoing basis. There is no point in having a pilot if there is no prospect of ongoing funding and funding from reserves for recurring expenditure is not an option.
